Synopsis

Voices of the Future (VOF) is an annual youth event that provides a platform for youth leaders in the APEC economies to engage government and business leaders on issues relevant to APEC.

Themed ‘Sustaining Growth, Connecting the Region’, VOF 2009 will involve 120 youth leaders from all 21 APEC economies, comprising 40 delegates from Singapore and 80 from other APEC economies from 9 to 15 November 2009.

VOF 2009 is organised by the National Youth Council (NYC) of Singapore in co-operation with the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and the National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) Council.

A Youth-for-Youth Event

VOF 2009 has an additional significance to the event with the Youth Organising Committee which supports the various organisations to bring together this special youth event. The Youth Organising Committee is made up of youths from all walks of life, from working young adults to students from various tertiary institutions. VOF 2009 not just empowers youth to voice out their thoughts and opinions but to take the lead to act for the future ahead of them.

VOF 2009 Logo

The logo represents 21 different economies, and each of the colours represents ‘voices’ from the different economies. Different views from different backgrounds, different capabilities and talents come together as one to make a better future for us all.

The ‘ups’ and ‘downs’ or peaks of the logo signify our various strengths to achieve peaks of excellence and coming together in unison when the going gets tough.

The logo itself too is arranged in different shades, from the darkest to the lightest colours, which means that, there would be a better future for us, if we work hand in hand to reach our peaks progressively, moving from the most challenging times (darkest shades) to happier (lightest shades) moments together.

The designer Wu Zhuoyi has ingeniously crafted the logo, intertwining the letters ‘V’ and ‘F’ where ‘V’ represents the word ‘VOICES’ while ‘F’ represents the word ‘FUTURE’. Indeed, to make our world a better place for all, the different voices from the different countries will determine our future. The letters ‘V’ and ‘F’ are interlocked with each other to show the interdependence and interconnectedness of one component to the other and vice versa.
